HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of HOCHTIEF Concessions AG, which develops and realizes concessions and operator projects. All the stock of HOCHTIEF Concessions is held by HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft.

The business fields of HOCHTIEF Concessions include airports, roads, social infrastructure and other public-private partnership (PPP) projects. With its subsidiaries HOCHTIEF AirPort and HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions, the company is one of the world's most important industrial infrastructure investors. HOCHTIEF AirPort and HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions have more than ten years experience in the field of public-private partnerships.

With its experienced product teams and a total of over 200 employees, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions concentrates on the business fields of Roads and Social Infrastructure. Since 2007, the company has also been engaged in the field of renewable energy. Based in Essen, Germany, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has business units and offices in Chile (Santiago de Chile), Greece (Athens), the United Kingdom (Manchester, Glasgow, Swindon), Canada (Toronto, Vancouver) and the USA (New York).

HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions offers its public-sector partners integrated, intelligent and innovative solutions, with financing, design/planning, construction and operation all coming from a single source. In this way, the company ensures significant and lasting quality benefits for those using HOCHTIEF-operated infrastructure facilities and considerable efficiency gains for public authorities. HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions is in a position, for instance, to implement public construction ventures more quickly and at more favorable overall costs. In view of the complexity of PPP projects and their long duration – of up to 30 years – trust and dependability play a key role.

Since 2005, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has earned an outstanding position for itself in the PPP sector. Worldwide, the company is currently involved in 28 PPP projects – 21 in the field of social infrastructure and seven in the field of transportation infrastructure – with an aggregate investment volume of well over EUR six billion. In all, almost 75,000 students, around 486,000 citizens and more than 1,300 soldiers use public buildings and facilities for which HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions is responsible. Then there are the road projects being constructed or already in operation under the direction of HOCHTIEF, with a total length of more than 750 kilometers.

Business units

Altogether, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has six business units in Germany, Europe, North and South America. The business unit Public Buildings Germany, based in Essen, serves the German PPP building construction market.

The companies HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions (UK) and HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions (Ireland) Ltd. are based in Cheshire and have offices in Glasgow and Swindon. From there, they are responsible for PPP schools projects in Bangor, Cork, East Ayrshire, Manchester, Munster, North Ayrshire, Salford and West Lothian, with a total of 26 schools and Wigan Community Centre.

The business unit Roads Europe in Essen is currently responsible for five toll road projects in Germany, Greece and Austria, with a total length of more than 750 kilometers.

These include the Elefsina-Patras-Tsakona motor, which, with a length of 365 kilometers and an investment volume of EUR 2.2 billion, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Southeastern Europe.

In Santiago de Chile, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions operates via its subsidiary HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions Chilena Ltda. The company's team in the Chilean capital is responsible for the toll road projects Tunnel San Cristóbal and Vespucio Norte Express.

At the beginning of 2008, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions set up HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America Inc., based in New York, to serve the PPP markets in the USA and Canada in the market segments transportation infrastructure and public buildings. The company also has offices in Toronto and Vancouver. In April 2010, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America won its first contract for a PPP project in North America. The company was commissioned to design, finance, build and subsequently maintain ten schools in Canada's Alberta province.

Via its Essen business office Renewable Energies, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has entered the business field of geothermal energy and is already involved in the development and construction of two geothermal power plants in the Molasse Basin in South Germany.
